Indigram Labs Foundation (ILF) accelerates biotechnology-based startups focused on agriculture and food ecosystems through the BIRAC-BioNEST program. Having successfully completed Phase I (2019-2022) supporting average 10 startups annually, ILF is now in the second year of Phase II, launching programs for its second cohort after supporting 10 ventures in the first year. ILF's Krishi-Utthan Bio-Incubator Centre provides comprehensive support including incubation cum office infrastructure, strategic mentorship for go-to-market strategies and product refinement, extensive networks connecting startups with R&D institutions, investors, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and market channels, as well as specialized services for accounting and financial, legal, and farmer engagement. By bridging the critical gap between laboratory innovation and field implementation, ILF's Bio-incubator enables promising agri-biotech startups to transform into successful ventures that address real agricultural challenges, with many incubated companies achieving significant fundraising milestones and creating tangible impact across India's farming communities.
Indigram Labs Foundation (ILF) is a well-known Technology Business Incubator (TBI) established in 2015 with support from the National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. As an affiliate of ISAP India Foundation, ILF supports innovation and entrepreneurship across agriculture, food processing, renewable energy, climate, re-circular economy, and rural healthcare sectors, with a mission to transform rural India through technology-driven entrepreneurship.
ILF nurtures and promotes startups in agriculture, food processing, biotechnology, climate technology, and healthcare domains, empowering them to evolve into sustainable business enterprises that create measurable impact on rural lives and livelihoods. We focus particularly on supporting entrepreneurs from tier 2, 3, and 4 cities who bring transformative solutions to India's agricultural and rural challenges.
Since its inception in 2015, ILF has emerged as a leading force in India's agritech startup ecosystem. Over the past nine years, it has supported more than 200 startups through comprehensive incubation and acceleration programs, with its portfolio companies demonstrating remarkable success in raising funds from private investors. ILF's incubated ventures have successfully commercialized intellectual properties, created significant employment opportunities, and achieved impressive combined annual turnovers. Most significantly, innovations from ILF's startups have directly benefited over 600,000 farmers across India.
ILF's impact is amplified through its affiliation with ISAP India Foundation, which provides access to an extensive network spanning over 100 districts, encompassing farmers, Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and agribusiness entrepreneurs. This vast grassroots network enables our startups to conduct market research, field-test products and services, and establish robust supply chain channels.
ILF's excellence has been recognized nationally—and it was honored as the "Emerging Incubator of the Year 2019" by DST in 2022 and the "Smart Incubator of the Year 2019" by ISGF. Through strategic partnerships with government agencies including BIRAC and implementation of multiple seed fund programs, ILF continues to strengthen India's agricultural innovation ecosystem.
Supported by a distinguished Board of Directors, autonomous Investment Committees, and a network of over 500 seasoned mentors, ILF provides startups with world-class guidance, market connections, funding access, and the resources needed to make Indian agriculture more productive, profitable, and resilient.
