A 2014 IIT Delhi Graduate and a former Gramin Bank intern, Nikhil aspires to revolutionise the agricultural sector in India. He believes in pushing his team in pursuit of something they would never be convinced they could achieve otherwise. He is endlessly savage and admirably thoughtful at the same time, and that’s precisely what has brought him to where he is today.
There several information & data challenges in agriculture sector:
a) Unavailability of correct farm & farmer data
b) Low accessibility in rural India
c) Excess diversity
d) Information asymmetry among agro stakeholders
FarmGuide was founded in 2016 with the aim to bridge information asymmetry in Agriculture and to ensure an increase in financial access for the Indian farmer population through software implementation and data analysis. They started the journey working with Government of Rajasthan and expanded their public sector client base to Government of India in 2017. In addition to this, they have developed solutions to reach farmers directly with the loan, insurance, and advisory products
The startup has not just developed the system but have also taken various training sessions across all the states of India and made an inclusive environment with all the farmers, bank branches, district agri officials, state agri officials, insurance companies and central bureaucracy. With the system developed, now every farmer gets a message with insurance receipt and is updated regularly about the insurance scheme and application status.
