Emmanuel Murray
Emmanuel Murray works as Senior Advisor, Food & Agribusiness, at Caspian Impact Investment Adviser Limited, a fund management company that manages both equity & debt funds. The equity funds invest in Food & Agri, apart from Clean Tech and Financial Services enablers. An RBI Licenced NBFC does the debt business currently stands at Rs. 500 Crore, about a fourth of which is in the Food & Agri sector, the rest being in Financial Services, Clean Energy, Education & Healthcare. Emmanuel’s role in Caspian is to support Ecosystem development through working with Incubators & startups in the Food & Agri space. Apart from mentoring, support in market linkages & credit linkages is facilitated. All these services are provided pro-bono. He works closely with over 15 Incubators and has mentored more than 120 Startups over the last five years. Emmanuel is an Independent Director on the Board of NABKISAN Finance Ltd, a subsidiary of NABARD that funds FPOs and other Agribusiness Enterprises. Before Caspian, Emmanuel worked for five years with Maanaveeya Development & Finance Ltd, the Indian Subsidiary of the Dutch Impact Cooperative, Oikocredit, in over 70 countries. He was in charge of the credit operations totaling around Rs 350 Crore in Microfinance, SME Finance, Renewable Energy, Agriculture, Education, and Livelihoods. A significant part of Emmanuel’s professional life, 25 years, was with NABARD, across various parts of India, including North-East India, and across multiple domains, including project finance, microfinance, direct lending, and consulting. He also was in the training system for seven years, including five in the Reserve Bank’s College of Agricultural Banking.
